Sorry for the long time not posting...

Well, it has been a while.  My husband and I still have health issues but we take one day at a time and try to make the best of it.  It has been a busy and fast Spring and Summer--I wonder where all that time went.  Our son, daughter-in-law, and our grandson were here from California for a couple of weeks and that was so much fun.  Noah is now three and so cute and smart!  I am going to share some pictures from our place and what I have been doing.  I hope you enjoy.
This is a scene around our backyard patio and fence.

A baby blanket our daughter-in-law wanted crocheted for a friend's baby.  The mom
love cupcakes.
Our son wanted me to knit a Dr. Who baby blanket for a friend.  I had made my son
and the mom to be a Dr. Who scarf when they were in college and he thought she
would appreciate a Dr. Who blanket. After I finished this one and mailed it to California, our son
said he sure would love a Dr. Who blanket.  I told him that I was glad he was old enough and
ugly enough that he wants would not hurt him.  But, guess what, I am in the process of
making him a blanket, but doing it in squares.
The squares are all finished--I just have to sew them together and I hate the finishing of any
project.
Hitchhiker scarf made with homespun yarn.
The socks on the left are the Mystik Spiral Socks and the pattern can be found on Ravelry.  The other socks are just a vanilla sock done with Knit Picks yarn.
This is knitted with yarn from Wild Hare Fiber Studios and the pattern is Zuzu Petals.  I did this for an autism awareness knit-a-long.

This is Mrs. Bakery Bear, the pattern can be found on Ravelry.  Our grandson and his friend took her to the park to ride on the rides.  I was entering the photo in a contest--it didn't win, but the kids had a great time.  I guess this is enough to show you for now.  I am still busy knitting some sweaters and hats for two cute little girls.  I also have our son's blanket to finish.
Love,
Marie

Catch up with a couple of months....

I have not added to my blog in a while, but I have been keeping myself busy.  For a while, it seemed that all I was doing was going to the doctor.  I had hoped that my pre diabetes would not go to type2, but that was not to be for me.  I thought I was doing everything I could with exercise and eating right and my A1C gave a different result.  I am now on Metformin and having to do blood sugar checks.  It will all be okay, I just have to continue to work on my diet and move around as much as I can.
I have been knitting, crocheting, reading, and everyday chores.  I thought I would take a few minutes to share a few things that have been happening in my life while I was not blogging.
I have been watching knitting podcast on the internet and have really been enjoying watching the women from here and across the pond and all their beautiful projects.  I saw there was to be a Downton Abbey Mystery KAL--before each week's episode, we were given clues to watch for and then knit the pattern for that clue.  We could also choose beginner or intermediate pattern and that determined what your project would look like.  I bought my yarn and 40" circular needles and decided to do the intermediate pattern and cast on 200 stitches to begin.  Below, I will show you my finished shawl and my husband was kind enough to model it for me.
I think, by the end of March, you will be able to download the complete pattern from Jimmie Bean Wool.  There were several corrections made to the pattern after it was posted and I am sure all that will be changed in the finished pattern.  I was so glad that I did a practice section of the pattern, with scrap yarn,  between two markers and errors were found and the designer changed them before I started knitting with my bought yarn.

We have had a cold winter and this is a really pretty snow that we had around the middle of February.  This is a scene taken from our front porch.  Now, it is March and the weathermen are predicting more frozen precipitation for us this week.  I am ready for Spring.
I finished a pair of socks for my husband while watching the live eagle cam that is on a nest in Decorah, Iowa.  The mom now has laid three eggs for this season--next is the hatching which should happen around the first of April.  There is also a live cam on a nest at Jordan Lake here in NC.  That mom has one egg and may have another one by tomorrow, March 3, 2014.
I knitted our grandson this sweater for Christmas and then decided to knit one for his best friend, Mr. Raccoon.  Since a baby, this stuffed animal is his favorite.  Mr. Raccoon use to have to go every where, but now he has a special place to wait for our grandson to come back home.
Friends are expecting their second little girl next month and I crocheted a granny square blanket for the baby.  I knitted a rabbit for big sister so she won't feel left out.
Thanks for spending time with me..hope it won't be such a long time before posting again.
Love,
Marie
