Trip to Mt. Airy...

We decided last Friday, before Sandy came, to drive up to the mountains.  It is a nice drive from our house to Mt. Airy.  It was a gorgeous day and the leaves were still beautiful in places.  We not only enjoyed the leaves but seeing the antique cars parked along Main Street and the crowds lined up at Snappy Lunch for the famous pork chop sandwich.

These are the mums in our yard today.  My husband took a picture because we may have frost tonight.

Fall at Melville Hill...

I enjoy early Fall with the crisp nights and comfortable days.  I love the beautiful leaves on the trees--don't like so much having to get someone to clean them up.  Our 15-month old grandson was just here from SF and had never played in leaves before and he loved it.  Hope you have a great Autumn season.

Last of Summer...........

Hope you enjoyed the flowers.  Even with the very hot temperatures here in NC this summer, Our flowers have been beautiful.  Now, they did take some tender loving care from my husband.

Piddling......

Another prayer shawl on the needles

I have the wedding sampler finished except a few details
and names and date.  The colors are more muted than this shows.

Sock yarn waiting to be knitted into Christmas gifts

These two tatting pieces are some piddling I was doing
working with the use of buttons.  I need much more
practice.
This hummingbird feeder is on our den window.  It is so much fun to watch them fight over it.
I had not filled it and placed it on the window and I looked and there was a
hummingbird hovering at the window looking for the feeder.  It is amazing to
me how they are able to travel so far and come back to the same feeder year
after year.

Marie

My baby went on a vacation.....

My baby went to the beach with our neighbors as they went for their vacation.  She was naked and in a box.  An internet friend that I have visited on line, lives and works near where they were going.  You will have to go visit Donna and see the transformation of my baby.  Donna does beautiful work and makes all kinds of crafts.  Below is Elizabeth Grace beautifully dressed and back at home in her doll cradle.  I love her and we believe she may be a doll from the 1930's.

Thank you Mike and Ann for letting Elizabeth Grace travel with you and being so kind to deliver her to Donna and pick her up when she was finished.  Thank you Donna for dressing my baby so that she can come out of the box from under the bed.  I am well pleased!

Marie

Recent projects...

Our daughter-in-law wanted this vest for Noah's first birthday.  The pattern
was in January, February Crochet Today.
I cross stitched this blanket for a friend's granddaughter.  It is done on Ann Cloth
This crochet sweater pattern is in Crochet Today - March, April 2012.
I have not finished this crochet necklace--I need to add the chain.  The pattern for this is in Crafty Ever After 2012 magazine published by Future- Handmade Wedding Ideas for Today's Bride.
The socks are knitted top down with different yarns.
This sweater is knit from a free pattern found on Lion Brand Yarn site.  It is knitted from top down with cotton yarn.

Now, I am working on a Victorian wedding sampler for a friend.  It is another cross stitch project.

Marie
